[...] We recently had the privilege of talking with Dr. Joseph A. Pipa about his doctoral dissertation, William Perkins and the Development of Puritan Preaching. It was an outstanding interview in which Dr. Pipa traced the influences on and contributions of William Perkins, a man who is arguably the most significant figure of the development of the Puritan movement. You can hear the interview here. [...]

Thanks brothers for this interview! More and more, I'm understanding how important Perkins was for the Reformed Church of England. Since the Cambridge movement, Perkins's influence has been virtually ignored. There are some scholars today, however, who are attempting to correct this error. Bryan D. Spinks, for example, in his Two Faces of Elizabethan Anglican Theology: Sacraments and Salvation in the Thought of William Perkins and Richard Hooker demonstrates how much more influence Perkins had compared to some other theologians, including Hooker. Despite the claims of the Oxford and Cambridge movements, Perkins is the dominant face of Elizabethan Anglicanism. Thank you Dr. Pipa for your work!
