I recently published a book on this very topic: “Surviving and Thriving in Seminary” http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D8RGR18/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00D8RGR18&linkCode=as2&tag=wwwdeindeorg-20

Scott

While I recognize this can be a danger it is not a necessary one and I can see no reason to assume it will be one.

That list could be a long one, so for any of you guys out there reading this, I will list the chief danger from which all other dangers stem. You *must* have and fight to remain to have warm, intimate times with the Lord in His word.

Here is a great resource to consider: http://www.desiringgod.org/blog/posts/a-guide-for-staying-christian-in-seminary

I was wondering if you were going to talk about preparing financially for seminary. I know that for a lot of people like myself, I didn’t exactly understand the financial ramifications of seminary. I would highly recommend talking to someone who knows the financial side of things beforehand or you could be in for quite a shock once those loans payments come due every month.

I have often thought in my head that this would be a great podcast topic to have. Lord willing I will begin the process of coming under care this year and headed to seminary soon after that. I want to reinforce having a mentor is huge in this process. My Associate Pastor and I are about to start reading Vos’ Biblical Theology together, something I certainly would not want to do alone!

Thanks, again. I will be recommending this episode to my friends who are considering seminary.

Currently working on a degree in business geared toward non-profit management, but also hope to go to seminary as well. It reinforced a number of things including taking research writing, philosophy, and history classes on the side to help prepare. Thanks for the work you all do.
