There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.

I was extremely disappointed in this sermon. I heard him to say that 3:23 — “before faith” — could not possibly be referring to the _historia_salutis_, which I heartily agree with. The main sense is the believers live before believing (pistis meaning both faith and belief). Then he went right on to talk about the badness of the Old Covenant!!?!
Many people hang their hat or not based on how someone else take Romans 7 — whether it refers to Paul before or after he became a Christian. I must admit that “covenant” in Galatians 3, 2 Corinthians 3 and Hebrews is such a crux interpretum for me. And this guy blew it.
Here is a great and simple article on Galatians 3 and what Paul meant regarding “Under the law” and “Before Faith”
