Galileo Against the Church & Nichols on Luther

July 23rd, 2009 by Camden Bucey

We discuss several new and forthcoming books and comment on two audio clips. The first comes from the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, PA and touches on Galileo’s relationship to the church. The second responds to a review of Stephen J. Nichols’ book Martin Luther: A Guided Tour of His Life and Thought.

  1. Jeff Downs says:

I notice this “review” sometime ago, and was amazed at this guys reasoning. Glad I wasn’t the only one who thought the same thing.

  2. Camden Bucey says:

Our podcasting platform sent out the Franklin Institute clip to several of the first listeners. I’ve fixed the problem. I apologize for the mixup.

  3. Jeff Waddington says:

    A couple of corrections:

    1. The Westminster Confession into the 21st Century/3 is not the final volume in the series. There is at least one more.

    2. To be historically accurate, I believe the five “solas” were not coined by Luther but sum up the content of his theology.

    3. The Scriptures are self-athenticating and therefore do not need to be verified by some outside source. What science may do is to correct an erroneous interpretation of Scripture, but not Scripture itself.
