Slavery in North America was based on man-stealing, which was a capital offense.

We are all very good at rationalizing our sinning by our &quot;superior&quot; exegesis.

Sorry for the rant.

P.S.  Vermont (where I live) qualifies statistically as an &quot;unreached people&quot; because of the low % of Evangelicals here.  Interestingly, Vermont declared a state of hostility against the south before the U.S.  In a broadly analogous way, perhaps the North took the role of Babylon in raining destruction on the South.  (Not that I would identify our country with God&#039;s chosen nation.)</description>
