Thank you for paying attention to these older guys. Those are still relevant discussions today.
Do you know about an interesting sequel to the Mastrciht-Becker discussion, leading to even a kind of confessional statement? In the Dutch province of Zeeland the provincial synod agreed in the 1690’s to a document called the Walcherse Artikelen (Walcheren is one of the Isles in Zeeland). All minister in the province were required to sign these article, from 169x to 1816.
The fifth and last articles was specific about devils, a kind of firm statement against Balthasar Bekker.
I could not find an English translation of these articles. In 2011 a Dutchman, J.W. Veltkamp, wrote a dissertation on them, and I expect he has an English summary in his dissertation.
I could send the Dutch tekst, but that is a hard excercise in reading an old Dutch dialect.
greetings,
Jaap
