This is naturally going to be a struggle for many reformed families. After speaking with a few people who would know, I received the following recommendations. The Banner of Truth edition (3 volumes in paperback) of Catherine Vos’s Child’s Story Bible is a helpful resource. You might also look at The Life of Jesus for the Very Young. Neither of these have pictures of Jesus.

Christian Focus apparently publishes one as well, though I’m not aware of it and can’t find the specific reference.
