This is indefensible in both its sloppy analysis of Barth, and the unquestioned presumption that Van Til was correct in his assessment of Barth. There are many aspects of Barth that deserve criticism, which Berkower did (Barth agreed with his critique), but this is nonsense. It only works if one reads the pages near the cited text, and is unfamiliar with truly everything else in the Church Dogmatics. Seriously, read CD I and II in their entirety: Barth says the exact opposite of what Van Til accuses him.

(Not to mention that van til is, as he often did, blending several heresies and slapping a name on what he thinks it is…VanTil had an extraordinarily horrible grasp of Christian history)
