Hosted by Providence Orthodox Presbyterian Church
Dates: January 31 – February 1, 2025
Location: Providence OPC, Scottsdale, AZ

Providence Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Scottsdale, Arizona is hosting a weekend conference on the glory and importance of corporate worship. Through four engaging sessions and a special Friday evening hymn sing, we’ll explore the biblical foundations and Reformed theological distinctives of worship, equipping you to worship God with greater understanding and joy.

Schedule of Events

Friday, January 31, 7:00 PM — Hymn Sing & Fellowship

Join us Friday evening for a hymn sing that unites the Reformed and like-minded churches in the Valley. Local pastors will introduce their favorite hymns, sharing brief reflections on their significance, as we lift our voices together in worship. Afterward, enjoy a time of extended fellowship to connect with brothers and sisters from other congregations.

Saturday, February 1, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM — Conference Sessions

Saturday features four theological talks that unpack the significance of corporate worship, led by Jonathan L. Cruse and Camden Bucey. These sessions will deepen our understanding of the heavenly realities we enter into during worship and the way God shapes us through it.

  • Talk 1: The What of Worship (Cruse)
The most important thing we do because we meet with God.
Worship is not simply a human activity but a divine appointment. This session explores the essential nature of worship as an encounter with the Triune God.
  • Talk 2: The Where of Worship (Bucey)
The spiritual, heavenly realities of corporate worship.
When the church gathers, it does so in the presence of God and His heavenly host. This talk explains the spiritual dimension of worship, helping us grasp the cosmic significance of this sacred act.
  • Talk 3: The Shape of Worship (Cruse)
How worship should be structured to structure us as believers.
Reformed liturgy is rooted in Scripture, reflecting God’s design for worship. This session examines how the elements of worship shape our faith and lives.
  • Talk 4: The How of Worship (Bucey)
Preparing for and participating in worship.
How do we approach worship in a way that honors God and nourishes our souls? This practical session offers biblical guidance on preparing our hearts and minds for corporate worship.
