Really enjoyed this. It would be great to have a follow up be “The Pastor as Father/Husband and the Father/Husband as Pastor.” The work/worship/home balance is always a struggle since so much of this is blurred.

It certainly is a treasure to be under the teaching of the pastor/scholar. One area that I would like to hear more conversation about is the theological work of the pastor/scholar vs.the academic-only scholar. The pastor is involved in ministering to broken-hearted, baptizing babies, comforting those dying of cancer, presiding over funerals, marrying couples and consoling broken marriages and the like. I think of Luther, Calvin and Edwards and how the numerous issues of the people’s life must effect their approach to theology. In the modern situation we have many academic theologians who have drifted off into strange ideas or even unbelief. Is there a connection?
