The point is God is holier than thou, and only He knows how Holiness is approached, i.e. service and worship. And the only way God has revealed how to approach His Holiness is by His now written Word, i.e. the Bible.

After listening to recent podcasts, I decided to go to the archives.

In this CTC25 podcast, aired in 2008, Drew Dinardo bemoaned the loss of 400 parishioners to “other churches with better entertainment” after he arrived at First Presbyterian Church of Coral Springs to preach the pure Reformed Word by exegesis of the Gospel of John. During the podcast, the Reformed Panel of Bucery, Waddington, Cassidy, and Keister were shocked by one of the faithful at his church requesting the American Flag be hung at the front of the church for July 4. This was only one of several shock incidents of non-Christian (meaning non-Reformed) attitudes and desires to give the parishioners what they wanted. During the podcast, Drew Dinardo reiterated his firm stance to not allow anything that did not conform to Reformed standards.

Tonight, 7 years later, I visited the First Presbyterian Coral Springs website. I see Drew Dinardo in 2015-dated pictures of a large choir, large organ, skits with actors in spectacular costumes, special music concerts with vocalists and instrumentation, a Christmas tree, and yes, even a large American flag.

My understanding from listening to the regular Panel of Bucey, Waddington and Cassidy over the years is Reformed churches only do what the Bible teaches, to the point that if it is not specifically stated by the inspired, inerrant, infallible Word of God, it simply is not done. Not only that, but seemingly no occasion is overlooked to draw attention to the worldly / pagan / heathenistic practices of non-Reformed churches.

To be clear, I personally have no issue with what First Presbyterian is doing. God gave the human mind the capacity for speech, music, color, celebration, etc, and I believe the church should use these to the fullest for the glory of God. What I do object to is the continued holier-than-thou attitudes of the Panel and guests during recent podcasts about austere, ultra-conservative, non-worldly worship in Reformed churches.

Gentlemen, I am calling you out … you have some public explaining to do about what you say and the impressions you create. It is time for correction and apology.

Yes, you are correct. I realized after the fact that I had confused two different men. I would encourage all to read both of them!
