I look forward to reading the book. Although it is certainly true that religion is not only about family, it is also true that God places us in covenants. The church is not just a collection of individuals; it is the assembly of God’s people wherein we are instructed by the Word, sealed in the sacraments, and ruled by appointed elders. Beyond even this, Saint Paul is clear on our need for spiritual solidarity and mutual edificaiton. Solidarity usually only gores those who refuse to submit to authority or support the weakness of their brothers.

Individualism and liberty only gores the ox of the “faith is all about family” people.
