Why should believers play such a game, in the first place? Is the academia the environment of privileged God given insight?
At many points , tough maybe not on purpose, it was given the impression that on theological matters the “academics” stand on higher ground, because, huh?!, they have “specialized”… Excuse me, but this sounds at times shallow and signals worldly vanity. And no wonder this is happening since in a previous comment Camden (or better of… Dr. Bucey?) has informed one of the listeners that: “Our average listener and target audience is are (sic!) theologically capable church officers, seminary students, pastors, and scholars. We were specifically making a call for increased attention to developing Reformed apologetics academically with the express intention of serving the Church.” So pretty much no place for laymen a.k.a. the church.
Serving/edifying the church is the main job that any sort of theologian should have, and just coming up with professional taxonomies does indeed blur this aspect. Just saying, state recognized academic credentials were not in the history of the church the main hallmark of theological legitimacy.
