Thanks for this interesting episode! I wanted to mention a couple of other tools that may be of use. I’ve started using Citavi for note taking (it does a lot more though). You can take different types of notes and connect them to sections of your paper. You can also add tasks to each piece you’re working on. The whole software is very intuitive and designed for an academic writing work flow.

You’ve mentioned academia.edu before, but I include that in my weekly routine of sites to look at for reading material. Plus you can interact with others on their work.

I would also mention that Zotero (amazing) can change the formatting of all of your citations and bibliography in the click of a button if you need to change that for submission to a specific journal that uses a different style.

I really enjoyed the episode. One thing you didn’t touch on much was editing. A program that I was just using that others may find helpful is NaturalReader. NaturalReader will read content to you from Word, PowerPoint and many other types of documents. This helps me find errors in my work that would not be readily apparent when I simply read through my own writing. A free demo version of the program is available if anyone want to try it out.

Also, I have a few hundred books in my iPad Good Reader app. It has several features that make it a great tool too.
