In the OPC, we confess, “Excommunication…consists in a solemn declaration by an ecclesiastical judicatory that the offender is no longer considered a member of the body of Christ” (OPC Book of Discipline, VI.B.5). We also confess, in more than one place to this effect, that in the worship service, “The preacher must, as Christ’s ambassador, seek to build up the saints in the most holy faith and beseech the unconverted to be reconciled to God” (OPC Directory for Public Worship, II.A.3.b.)

According to these commitments, to forbid those excommunicated from attending worship services, merely because they are unrepentant unbelievers, would appear to be contrary to our confession.

It would appear to me that the practice of shunning is the Anabaptist, and not the Reformed, interpretation of Paul’s exhortation “not to associate with such a one.”

A brother has helpfully pointed out https://archive.org/stream/govordero00hend#page/42/mode/2up, which states of an excommunicated individual, “he is permitted to come to the preaching of the word” (p. 43).

Is there somewhere I could read that online?

Could you post the names and titles so I might be able to get them via inter library loan? It was the PhD thesis and the article in WTJ.
