As a partial preterist and postmillennialist, I find it to be a very important question whether recapitulation continues all the way into chapter 20 of Revelation. I am thoroughly convinced of a preterist reading of Chs. 1-19 that focuses on the Roman empire and Old Covenant Israel, and I fully grant recapitulation in those chapters. However, hyperpreterists see this recapitulation, and then argue–along the very same lines that more idealist/amillennial types do–for continuing recapitulation all the way into 20:7-10, which results in having *everything* fulfilled in the 1st century. I look forward to Ken Gentry, Jr.’s upcoming commentary in which he deals with White’s arguments for recapitulation in Rev. 20. But I also wonder what Dr. Mathison thinks.

THE BEST RAPTURE LOCATER

Guess what. If you can figure out when the “sudden destruction” of wicked persons takes place in I Thess. 5:3 (and also when “death” is ended in I Cor. 15:54), you will know where to place the rapture on your prophecy chart because those passages talk about the “times and seasons” (and also the “when” and “then”) of the rapture. Neat, huh?

(Another good web item, besides the above, is “Pretrib Rapture Dishonesty” which I found on the “Powered by Christ Ministries” site. Don’t overlook the dispie portraits from Irving and Darby to Lindsey and Ice.)
