I am currently writing two papers: one on the Theologoumena (Biblical Theology) of John Owen, and the other is on The History of Redemption by Edwards. With that being said I am trying to see/make a connection in the paper between the Biblical-Theological methodology of Owen->Edwards->Vos.

Are any of you aware of any resources that reference these connections or lack thereof? Or, whether or not these three Biblical Theologians were building on one another’s work? We’re they writing in contradistinction to one another?

I think through Strobel’s book I can make an argument for Owen having an affect upon Edwards, but I would love to know whether Vos had Owen and/or Edwards in the back of his mind.

Thanks guys! This was a fantastic show!

Keith,

They’re working on recording new episodes. The delays have mostly been scheduling issues. Everything at Reformed Forum is volunteer, so it can be difficult to schedule people around their existing work schedules.

We’d like to be able to hire an audio editor to take some of the burden from me and the contributors, but we’re not in a financial position to be able to do that for the full amount of work that we have. We need about $10,000 for a part-time editor for the year. That wouldn’t solve the scheduling problems, but it would free us up for creating more content.

I found these discussions very helpful of a man who had such a significant impact on preachers and authors that have subsequently influenced me (sometimes for the worse where it sounds like they misunderstood Edwards, and mostly for the better). How much $ are needed to keep the show on the air?

When I think about standing on the shoulders of those who have gone before us, Jonathan Edwards is in the top tier.

The discussion with Strobel was just full of insight. His inquiry into the influences on Edwards was huge and hopefully will encourage more of the same.
