Thomas is rather clear about this on many occasions. This is the reason that Thomas explicitly says that God does not belong to the subject matter of metaphysics. Metaphysics studies ens commune, which does not include God. The position that you are attributing to Thomas is much closer to the position of Duns Scotus and Suarez.
