Herman Bavinck

Rev. Dr. Ron Gleason, pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church (PCA) of Yorba Linda, CA converses with the Christ the Center panel about the forthcoming volume Reforming and Conforming? and his work on a forthcoming biography of Herman Bavinck to be published with Presbyterian & Reformed Publishers. Dr. Gleason discusses his concerns with the emergent church, but the lion’s share of this episode is devoted to an assessment of Bavinck as theologian. Gleason notes that Bavinck was a first class systematician and, like his contemporary Benjamin B. Warfield, was adept in Old and New Testament studies as well as historical theology and philosophy. All of this is evident to the reader of Bavinck’s magisterial Reformed Dogmatics. Listeners of this episode may find themselves entertaining an inexplicable desire to learn Dutch.
