The Headship of Christ

The Christ the Center panel had the privilege of discoursing with the Rev. Dr. Craig Troxel about ecclesiology, especially as it is grounded in the headship of the Lord Jesus Christ. Rev. Troxel is pastor of Bethel Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Wheaton, IL. The discussion focused on the threefold office of Christ (munus triplex Christi) as prophet, priest, and king and how that connects with the doctrine, worship, and government of the church. The group also considered the relationship of the church to the kingdom of God and the church and mission.

I always enjoy it when your discussions touch on ecclesiology!

Does anyone know what the best way to get the edition of The Church of God as an Essential Element of the Gospel is for people in the UK? WTS books don’t do international shipping, and the OPC don’t do it through their website (but I think do if you e-mail them – I’m not sure at what price though!). So if anyone know any other ways to get it that would be appreciated.

You are probably looking for hard copies, but Robinson’s book is available on the web here.

Another great show.

What was the name of Dr. Troxel’s book that Jeff mentioned? An introduction to Bannermans Ecclesiology? I couldn’t find it at Amazon or the WTS bookstore.

Also, which volume of Berkhower has the 3 fold office of X in it tha t Dr. Troxel was touching upon, the person or work of X? BTW, I can never remember which of Berkhower’s volumes are good to have and which one’s tail off into neo orthodoxy. Do you know?

Finally, on an interview at Apologetics 3:15 Dr. Oliphint mentioned a new book of his that will be coming out next summer on apologetics. Any more info on it?

I mentioned an edition of the two volume Bannerman set on the church to which Troxel wrote an introduction. It was a paperback set with a royal blue cover published by the Westminster Discount Book Service of Scarsdale, NY.

Great discussion!

One regret: confusion over the ontology of the church and her mission was mentioned twice but it wasn’t elaborated upon. I would love to have heard more explanation and discussion on this topic.

Perhaps another show? (Hint)
