What do you make of Finney using Edwards to defend his new measures?

First, some of my background: I grew up in the OPC and other reformed churches. When I was stationed at Camp Pendleton, I attended New Life in Escondido, which was OPC at the time, and in the 80s shifted to the PCA.
I’ve been in the area since then, and have had the privilege to get to know many of the Professors at Westminster Seminary in California.
I was interested to hear Dr. Ortlund give some caution about Edwards’ introspection, because I had been told the same thing by Dr. R. Scott Clark! As a slight variation of M’Cheynne’s quote, Scott said, “For every page you read of Edwards, read 3 pages of Luther!”
After hearing the podcast, I had to share that story. Keep up the good work.

Terrific episode! One of the most edifying yet. The insights about beauty and Christ as our “joy of joys” were fantastic.
